Driver at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Driver to join our team. Under the general direction of the Practice Manager or designee, the Driver provides transportation for clients to Agency and non-Agency sites; assures general maintenance of assigned vehicles per Agency guidelines; assists the Agency’s Transportation department in coordinating and scheduling transport routes; completes all routing/driving logs. Manages supplies and equipment necessary to carry out duties.

Your role in action:

• Transports assigned consumers to scheduled destinations.
• Coordinates transportation needs for clients with treatment team members.
• Plans daily pick up routes for effective use of transportation capacity.
• Reports any out of the ordinary client behaviors to the treatment team.
• Observes and reports any client safety issues to the treatment team.
• Monitors assigned vehicles for potential safety problems.
• Ensures vehicle receives required maintenance as scheduled.
• Transport charts between clinics when needed.
• Maintains required logs of all trips completed during the day/week/month.
• Maintains equipment and supplies in assigned vans as required by Agency guidelines.
• Submit both verbal and written reports of all incidents and/or accidents involving client and/or employee as needed according to Agency Policies & Procedures.
• Performs related work as assigned. Adapts to changing working requirements.
• Demonstrates ethical conduct in all professional activities.
• Complies with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies and performance contract documentation requirements.
• *Unique to ACT Team, will sit in staffing meetings with Medical Director (MD) to coordinate last minute needs to bring in clients to see MD.

What qualifications you will need:

Education

• High School Diploma or General Education diploma.

Other Key Qualifications

• Must maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and safe driving record with proof of insurance.

Experience:

• Preferred but not required paid transportation and customer relations experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of safe driving regulations.
• Knowledge of the major city expressways and ability to read maps.
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with Agency personnel, clients and the general public.
• Preferred but not required paid transportation and customer relations experience.
• Must maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and safe driving record with proof of insurance.
