The goal of the Receptionist is to contribute to effective school-public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.
Essential Duties
Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, checks appointments, and directs and escorts them to the proper person
Answers office telephone and responds appropriately to requests for information
Maintains an attractive and comfortable reception area which includes a reading table stocked with current school district publications and periodicals of general interest
Reports immediately the presence in the building of any visitor who bypasses the reception desk or any suspicious activity or unusual behavior on the part of visitors
Receives and distributes mail to appropriate persons
Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Education/Experience Requirements
High School Diploma/GED required
Typing, filing and other secretarial skills
Ability to deal with people in a tactful and effective manner
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Physical Requirements
Must be able to physically perform the basic operational functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, hearing and repetitive motion
Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
