Job Summary: 

The Production Manager – Powder Coating is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the powder coating automation and manual process areas. The Production Manager will oversee and manage the powder coating line operations, ensure adherence to quality control and safety standards, and train and supervise team members. Responsibilities include coordinating daily production activities, maintaining equipment, monitoring production output, and ensuring products meet all quality assurance criteria. The role requires strong supervisory, technical, and communication skills to lead an efficient and motivated team.

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • Powder Coat Production Management 
    • Must have 5 years of Wet Paint, Powder Coat, Spray Dry, or applicable Paint/Powderline process management experience.
    • Experience in the engineering concepts of powder coating and wet paint processes is desired.
    • Experience in fast-paced automation paint processes, knows how to train operators to an SOP. Properly manages automation processes to satisfy planning needs and production quotas.
    • Knowledgeable in manual paint processes to include manual powder coating/spraying processes to train operators to an SOP. Troubleshoots and provides recommendations on how to optimize manual processes for quality output.
    • Knowledgeable of required quality systems applied into automated powder coating lines and keeping daily records of quality output of the paint shop. 
    • Should understand how a BOM/Router process integrates into a paint/powder coat shop and how to prioritize production orders within an ERP system, experience with SAP ECC 6.0 or some version of SAP is preferred.
    • Experience coordinating with material flow and SOP set up is required to ensure that from raw material to final product that the manufacturing processes are properly controlled.
    • Must have led a minimum of 10 powder coating/paint process employees. Knows how to properly motivate and lead a disciplined workforce.
    • Works with Maintenance Manager to develop preventative maintenance processes, maintenance SOPs, and maintenance schedules to ensure powder coat machinery is optimally cared for and production processes remain on schedule to meet capacity.

  • General Shop Management
    • Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep the location accident-free.
    • Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production.
    • Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
    • Work closely with Production planning team to create and implement production schedules to meet customer demands.
    • Maintain a staffing schedule based on the demand forecast.
    • Managing and motivating a team of production workers and supervisors.
    • Supervising all multiple manufacturing or assembly lines and coordinating with logistics department to meet customer delivery on time.
       

Job Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5 years (preferred) experience in an industrial/metal manufacturing facility. 
  • Experience in Precision Sheet Metal and Set up Operation of Equipment is required.
  • Supervisory/Management experience of at least 10 or more persons in a production environment 
  • LEAN certification preferred, experience with LEAN manufacturing
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints 
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software.

  • Ability to improve the paint shop processes targeted to continuous improvement of the production outcome.
  • Able to use quality instruments and conduct measurements using paint shop equipment (color meters, paint thickness gauges). Verifies and takes measurements of the pretreatment chemical baths. 
  • Willingness to adapt and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
