Job Summary: Greets, instructs, directs and schedules patients as well as handles billing duties for Occupational Health at our Union Street location.


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong phone skills
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Communication skills – effective listening, writing, spelling, and reading skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Telephone skills.
  • Able to work as a team.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the business office with in the medical field
  • Must be available to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to handle cash and balance account receivable 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience with worker’s compensation billing.

Essential Functions:   

  • Answer telephones promptly and courteously, identifying yourself and your department to the callers. Ability to forward callers appropriately, announcing your call to the receiver. 
  • Greet and check in patients for occupational health.
  • Verification of worker’s compensation claims.
  • Scheduling appointments for occupational health clinic.
  • Review incoming referrals.
  • Review and address claim issues related to worker’s compensation.
  • Verify and enter pertinent demographics, insurance coverage.
  • Answer billing questions for patients, insurance or other entities as appropriate.
  • Taking payments and balancing cash drawer.
  • Participates in departmental meeting and problem solving groups.
  • Serve as a mentor to new staff and students as assigned. 
  • Performs other duties as requested.
