Position Summary

The Field QA/QC Technician supports renewable energy projects by ensuring that construction, installation, and commissioning activities meet established quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on the inspection and testing of solar, wind, and energy storage systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly under the QAQC Project Lead.
  • Perform quality inspections of renewable energy installations, including solar modules, racking systems, wind turbine components, inverters, transformers, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and industry codes (NEC, IEC, ISO, UL, etc.).
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical checks such as torque testing, cable terminations, grounding verification, and insulation resistance testing.
  • Inspect civil and structural work, including foundations, pile driving, and concrete quality for renewable installations.
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test results, punch lists, and non-conformance records.
  • Support the implementation of project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
  • Collaborate with project engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Assist during commissioning and performance testing of renewable systems.
  • Participate in client, third-party, and regulatory audits or inspections.
  • Promote and uphold safety standards while conducting all QA/QC activities in the field.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, or related technical field preferred (or equivalent field experience) preferred.
  • Experience in QA/QC or field inspection within renewable energy projects (solar farms, wind farms, battery storage, substations).
  • Knowledge of renewable energy components, construction practices, and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as NEC, IEC, ISO, UL, ASME, and ASTM.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel frequently to project sites.

Work Environment

  • Field-based position, primarily on renewable energy project sites.
  • May require travel to remote locations, extended hours, and rotating shifts.
  • Exposure to outdoor environments, construction activities, and high-voltage systems.
