General Summary:
Oglethorpe University Counseling Center invites applicants for the position of Counseling Center Staff Therapist. This is a full-time, 10-month position. The Staff Therapist reports to the Counseling Center Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct services to students from diverse backgrounds, including individual counseling, couples and group counseling to college students
Provide crisis intervention services to students in distress
Consult with faculty, staff, students, and family/support people regarding student mental health or behavioral concerns and support
Communicate with off-campus mental health professionals to coordinate referrals and specialized care
Document all clinical contacts and maintain confidentiality in accordance with professional codes of ethics and associated state licensing laws and regulations
Coordinate one or more areas of service in the Center according to service demands (e.g., training, campus outreach, social media and communication, outside referrals/resources)
Participate in regularly scheduled Counseling Center team meetings and Student Affairs Division staff meetings
Establish liaisons with various campus organizations and groups
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree mental health counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy
Licensed to practice independently in the State of GA (Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Counselor)
Experience working with diverse and underserved populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in college/university mental health
Ability to provide therapy in both English and Spanish
Experience providing supervision to counselors in training
Crisis management experience
Expertise in trauma, substance abuse and/or eating disorder treatment
Proficiency using Titanium Schedule and/or other electronic health record software
This is a full-time, 10-month position from Aug 1 to May 31.
Working evenings or weekends may be required.
The position is an in-person position.
