The State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Office of Administration/Employee Services Division (ESD) is currently recruiting for an Administrative Assistant I in Baltimore City. This is an Interview and Hire position that is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. This announcement may also be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland for SHA.
Nature or Work: The incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of administrative functions such as maintaining the Employee Services Division (ESD) file room, filing, ordering office supplies, and providing telephone coverage. This position is critical to ensure administrative functions are properly managed in support of ESD.

Position Duties
Education: Graduated from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience in secretarial or clerical work involving typing or stenographic duties.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute additional secretarial or clerical experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Applicants may substitute an Associate of Arts degree with a major in Secretarial Science from an accredited college for up to two years of the required experience.
3. U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
