This role is responsible for providing key risk partnership to the Financial Planning area of the business ensuring risks are understood, mitigated and controlled. Analyse, investigate and evaluate risk, providing challenge and oversight.

This role-holder may predominantly be responsible for supporting smaller teams of new to role advisers and will be responsible for supporting them through their pre-CAS journey to competent adviser, creating a strong performance ethos and culture where all colleagues have the ambition to develop and grow their skills.

*This role is a 9-month fixed-term contract/secondment*

Key Responsibilities

  • Through collaboration with peers and advisers, proactively promote a client focused, high performance, culture that is consistent with SPW's vision and values, and influence others by role modelling core SPW behaviours

  • Working in unity with Regional Managers to maximise the performance of new to role advisers to reach their potential to deliver against key KPIs.

  • Provide first line supervision to new advisers until they achieve competence status in accordance with the terms of the T&C scheme, collaborating with Regional Managers to help them pro-actively manage any barriers.

  • Undertake a holistic view of supervision using a range of effective feedback and coaching activities and through analysing T&C Management Information tailor the potential development needs of the individual and/or team.

  • Observe best practice of the advice process by supporting and encouraging advisers to adopt best use of the tools to efficiently drive good outcomes for clients.

  • Undertake T&C supervisory activities and record-keeping, including 1:1s, and provide constructive feedback and coaching to advisers to support ways to improve.

  • Increasing the monitoring of high-risk activities, escalating risks to key stakeholders.

  • Evidence knowledge and expertise to monitor adviser adherence towards their Statement of Professional Standing and to provide guidance for the Professional Qualifications within the regulatory role to ensure colleagues hold the appropriate advice licences.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to support and investigated regulated advice complaints to ensure a clear recommended outcome is achieved. 

  • Create a strong internal network across the business.

  • Evidence responsibility to maintain and continually develop their own level of personal and professional development and competency.

Qualifications & Skills
The jobholder will need to possess:

  • Recent experience in an adviser role is crucial given you will be supervising new to advice colleagues.

  • Evidencing strong risk performance in current role, including use of advice licences and exceptional advice quality.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration - you will build a strong stakeholder network, engaging and influencing in all areas across the company, promoting a client focussed, high performance culture.

  • Problem Solving – Identifying problems and working with Regional Managers and advisers to create solutions.

  • Strong Communication Skills – Being able to provide clarity by way of clear actions, in a motivational environment, whilst being able to adapt style to manage challenging conversations.

  • Coaching and Effective Feedback – Provide effective feedback and coaching, both remotely and face to face, to maintain and develop competence of advisers driving the best quality advice outcomes for clients.

  • External Financial & Regulatory Awareness – Evidence Financial & Regulatory awareness which will allow you to identify and interpret regulations impacting advisers and support the business in implementing and adopting change (e.g. Consumer Duty).

  • You will also be able to evidence a working knowledge of the SPW T&C Framework.

  • Qualified to at least QCF Level 4 and support towards Level 6 chartered, if desired.
