Reports To: Executive Director of Human Resources
Salary: $49,220 – $53,210, commensurate with education and experience

Position Summary
Monroe Public Schools is seeking an Onboarding Specialist (Human Resources Generalist) to join our HR team. This role provides full-spectrum HR support with a primary focus on onboarding, compliance, employee records, and HR operations. The Onboarding Specialist collaborates closely with employees, contractors, and supervisors to ensure seamless hiring and onboarding processes, while also supporting benefits administration, workers’ compensation, certification tracking, fingerprinting, and employee relations.
This position is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and is looking to gain broad HR generalist experience in a school district setting.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding & Hiring Support
- Coordinate onboarding for Monroe Public Schools employees and contracted staff.
- Manage new hire documentation, contracts, and verification of employment/teaching experience.
- Conduct and process background checks (employees, contractors, athletics).
- Prepare onboarding packets, schedule workshops, and set up onboarding sessions.
- Support interviews by coordinating scheduling, preparation, and follow-up.
Compliance & Employee Records
- Enter and submit injury reports; track workers’ compensation cases and communicate with providers.
- Maintain injury tracking by building and supporting employee safety reporting.
- Process and log employee certifications (including CPR and licensing).
- Maintain HR files, employment records, and digital documentation.
Fingerprinting & Security
- Coordinate fingerprinting for all new hires, substitutes, and contractors.
- Manage Rapback tracking, fingerprint sharing, and fingerprint requests.
- Issue security and ID badges; manage replacement for lost or damaged badges.
Purchasing & HR Operations
- Order office and medical team supplies; process and track purchase orders.
- Maintain HR office inventory and blanket purchase orders.
- Support HR compliance audits and reporting needs.
Administrative & Employee Support
- Serve as first-line HR contact, answering and routing calls.
- Provide employment verifications and process requests for teaching experience.
- Act as a Notary Public (preferred).
- Assist with other Human Resources projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in human resources, onboarding, compliance, or office administration required.
- HR generalist experience in a school district or public sector is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HRIS systems.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Notary Public certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
Work Environment
This position is based in the Human Resources Office at the Administration Building and requires occasional travel between district buildings for onboarding sessions, fingerprinting, and supply deliveries.
