POSITION SUMMARY:         
This position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to safely install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment within the Resin Packaging Warehouse. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency through proactive and reactive maintenance practices. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty with a high level of competence and independence. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 
REQUIRED
  • Must have a minimum five (5) years of industry related experience in Resin packaging and Warehousing.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience operating a 5K forklift.
  • Experience with FF&S equipment maintenance and repair, operations and maintenance programs, such as packing line equipment/ conveyor, palletizers, air compressors and small forklift.    
  • Must have knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs and replacement such as but not limited to changing filters, greasing bearing. 
  • Must have Basic computer skills 
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak Intermediate English
  • Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information
  • Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team oriented work environment
  • Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.
  • Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures
PREFERRED
  • Ability to prepare a variety of reports based on work orders and/or preventative maintenance schedule
  • High School graduate or equivalent

  • HAZMAT certification 
  • Electrical or Mechanic Certification(s)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

PRIMARY

  • Leads and executes preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines, in accordance with diagrams, technical manuals, manufacturer specifications, and engineering standards.
  • Independently identifies root causes of mechanical issues by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and utilizing precision measuring and diagnostic instruments.
  • Performs complex repairs by dismantling equipment using hoists, cranes, and a variety of hand and power tools; inspects and evaluates parts for wear and damage.
  • Responsible for coordinating and supervising contractors or vendors performing maintenance and repairs on the machines.
  • Assesses and adjusts dimensional tolerances of components using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure optimal performance and compliance with specifications.
  • Calibrates and aligns mechanical systems and control instruments using appropriate tools and techniques to restore functionality and maintain operational standards.
  • Minimizes equipment downtime by proactively communicating with production teams, implementing preventive maintenance schedules, and ensuring adherence to maintenance protocols.
  • Fabricates and modifies parts as needed using machine shop equipment and instrumentation to support timely repairs and upgrades.
  • Manages inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts; forecasts needs, places orders, and verifies deliveries to ensure readiness and reduce delays.
  • Optimizes resource usage by applying efficient maintenance practices and minimizing waste of materials and time.
  • Serves as a technical resource by providing guidance, answering inquiries, and supporting Industrial Maintenance Assistant
  • Enforces and models compliance with safety regulations and cleanliness standards to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Supports operational excellence by contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and collaborating with team members to achieve maintenance goals.
  • Maintains situational awareness at all times, ensuring safety around moving vehicles, personnel, and active equipment inspections.

SECONDARY

  • Operate 5K forklift to move and relocate parts and / or pallets
  • Assist with physical inventories as needed
  • Depending on business volume and needs, may be assigned to perform other related tasks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable 
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit (while driving), grasp and exercise eye-hand coordination and eye-hand-foot coordination.  (If operating equipment)
  • The employee is occasionally required to grasp, exercise repetitive wrist motion, and finger movement
  • The employee is frequently required to talk and hear
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and exercise repetitive foot motion
  • The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, bend forward, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, pinch and reach overhead 
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 110 pounds 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

CONDITIONS: 

  • Work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high
  • Moderate vibration though hands when using power tools and throughout body when operating power industrial equipment 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Exposure to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts
  • The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles
  • The noise level in the work environment is frequently moderate to high

  • Receives direct supervision from the Director Warehouse Operations; Does not exercise supervision over any other position
