Ardurra is seeking a Senior Architectural Historian to support our team in Tallahassee, FL!
Primary Purpose
The Architectural Historian is an Associate or Senior-level position within the Ardurra Cultural Resource Management (CRM) Group that is responsible for many aspects of project management and report production that focus on the documentation of historic properties. The Architectural Historian has regional specialization (Southeast preferred), a Master’s degree, and meets the Secretary of the Interior standards for professional qualification. The Architectural Historian will support a team led by a Principal Investigator and be responsible for the scientific quality of project deliverables associated with historic properties or within the realm of historic preservation. This role may also assist in training and development of junior staff, establishment and refinement of standard operating procedures, and project scoping.
Essential Functions
- Manages assigned projects under the direction of the CRM Group leadership
- Provides daily operational oversight for assigned projects including quality assurance and keeps group leadership informed on progress or issues regularly
- Performs daily QC of data collected in the field
- Assesses NRHP eligibility of structural resources and historic properties
- Develops project specific recommendations for resource management and compliance with cultural resource laws and regulations
- Manages and contributes to production of report deliverables, 1A-32 Permit applications, state site file forms, and other associated work products
- Works with Field Director to evaluate the performance of field staff and make recommendations for training and development for historic property documentation.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree in Historic Preservation or related field (History, American Studies, Architectural History, etc.) with a demonstrated focus on historic property surveys pertaining to the U.S. Southeast is strongly preferred.
- Senior level: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within cultural resource management demonstrating consistent growth in responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience utilizing digital data collection methods, including ESRI ArcGIS Field Maps.
- Excellent oral and written communication and project management skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple project stakeholders.
