Under immediate to moderate supervision, the Machine Operator operates fabricating machines such as press brakes, laser cutters, and other machinery as required, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates for the production of an array of products.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
Positions stop or guide to specified length as indicated by blueprints, scale, rule, or template.
Maintains fabricating equipment and makes adjustments to prepare equipment for safe and efficient operation.
Moves parts and/or workpieces manually, by hoist or forklift and secures parts using clamps, braces, etc. prior to machine operation.
Maintains production quantities, efficiencies, and quality of parts fabricated.
Positive team-based attitude and a willingness to cross-train on machinery in the fabrication department.
Ability to adhere to company safety expectations and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must be able to use and read a tape measure, protractor, and various other measuring tools using both American and metric measurements and quantities.
Ability to handle large awkward parts weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted; additional weight assisted
Ability to operate a forklift
Other duties as assigned
Work performed in a loud manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s):
Ability to read and understand English
Capable of performing standard measurements.
Ability to read a tape measure, protractor, and square (in American measurements).
Ability to use other measuring devices.
Ability to read drawings and sketches
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work alone and as part of a team
Good math skills
Mechanical aptitude
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate preferred
Minimum of 1 – 3 years of previous experience operating laser-cutting machines
The level of the position will vary pleaser-cutting ending upon years of experience.
