As a Part-Time Test Technician (6-month contract) at Zoox, you’ll play a key role in ensuring vehicle safety and readiness while supporting software and hardware testing. This role offers hands-on experience in vehicle operations and exposure to teams across Zoox, from engineering to ride operations. We’re looking for reliable, detail-oriented team players who adapt quickly to dynamic test environments. 

This role is based onsite at our Transportation Research Center - California or Altamont test sites. The role requires flexibility to work across multiple shifts, which may include:

Day: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Swing: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
Occasional overnight or weekend hours as operational needs arise.

In this role, you will:
  • Support vehicle testing and operations in both in-vehicle and out-of-vehicle roles
  • Assist with basic software tasks, system checks, and mission prep activities
  • Collect data, analyze logs using internal tools, and document observations
  • Contribute to feedback and defect reporting for engineering teams
  • Support documentation efforts related to vehicle readiness, test results, and metrics
  • Promote a safety-first mindset and collaborative, inclusive team culture


  • Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Basic scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash) from coursework, projects, or personal use
  • Team-oriented, with a strong focus on execution and safety
  • Comfortable with Google Suite or Microsoft Office; open to learning tools like JIRA or Confluence
  • Exposure to QA concepts or testing environments is a plus; adaptable in fast-paced settings
  • Actively enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year college program pursuing a certificate or degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work onsite in Tracy or Altamont.

  • Experience with MS Office/Google Suites


  • Compensation

    $30 an hour.

    This is a contract position and employment for this position will be through a vendor contracted with Zoox. The hourly pay range is posted and you will be eligible for a benefits package as offered by the vendor.
