SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Responsibilities may include direct and indirect supervision of Food Production Worker (FPW) I & II employees under direction of management.


SUMMARY 
The Food Production Worker classification is a multi-skilled level who, under supervision, acts in a lead capacity in the receiving, storing, requisitioning and inventorying all goods ordered and received into the Food Preparation Center. This position may also be called on to perform Lead Cook and catering duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists buyer in preparing orders for food, paper and janitorial supplies.

Inspects and receives goods according to Receiving Procedures.

Documents receipts as outlined in Receiving Procedures.

Stores goods according to sanitation and safety guidelines and local requirements.

Issues and requisitions goods to appropriate stations as required.

Inventories all food, paper and janitorial supplies monthly. Maintain par levels.

Keeps storeroom, freezer and refrigerators clean and orderly at all times.

Date stamp received goods and rotates per Receiving Procedures.

Keeps manager informed of any shortages or overages as necessary.

Travels for agency business using personal/agency vehicle.

Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Works evening and weekends as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE:
Two years’ storeroom experience preferred. May be substituted for three years’ large quantity food service experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and maintain Food Handlers card or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment
Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures common to large-quantity off service operations.

Knowledge of weights and scales used in food production.

Knowledgeable on standardized recipes.

Knowledge of required food temperatures and use of thermometers.

Understand First In-First Out (FIFO) method with reference to food storage.

Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds properly.

Ability to read and comprehend procedures, calculate arithmetic and complete forms.

Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software used to maintain accurate records.

Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law and insurability by agency carrier.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat (from hot oven area and freezer); hot surfaces and spattering grease. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid condition, toxic or caustic cleaning chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and sharp objects. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
