About the Department
Under general supervision, is responsible for supporting Bexar County Information Technology team; will support the mission of the County, ensuring successful delivery of IT services as defined in the duties and responsibilities. This position will represent the County in a professional and effective manner and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public. Flexibility to achieve performance excellence in a telework arrangement.
Position Duties
- Serves as subject matter expert, individually motivated and operating with a sense of urgency and personal accountability
- Designs, develops and builds web pages using a variety of software applications, techniques, and tools
- Designs the website to support the organization's strategies and goals relative to external communications
- Assists in the maintenance of Internet and Intranet resources to ensure effective, efficient delivery and support to user community
- Produces web pages incorporating product photos, text and graphics
- Converts conceptual design layouts into functional HTML code
- Works with various clients to interpret and translate their brand needs and ideas into concepts and develop them into effective communication on web
- Works with internal team members to provide professional recommendations for concept, design, production, and quality control
- Produces interface designs, logos, and working prototypes for the County website
- Takes part in initial project planning, information architecture, and user experience
- Adds or removes content within our CMS as new content is developed or updated
- Assists in repairing, establishing or troubleshooting County website
- Performs other related technology duties and projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 1-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design; basic knowledge of HTML editors (Dreamweaver); basic knowledge of user interface design and usability, in addition to a good knowledge of color, layout, design principles, and typography
- Good skills in Content Management System concepts and applications; skills in designing and presenting information accurately and thoroughly; basic CSS and HTML coding skills; demonstrates creative, technical and analytical skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable; ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work; ability to present designs to both technical and business audiences; ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high quality deliverables by deadlines; ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner across functional and technical departments, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, stakeholders, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public
- Demonstrates technological intuitiveness
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- Required to be on call 24 hours
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- May be required to work weekends
- Experience with Responsive Design
- Graphic Design experience
- Constantly working in indoor / telework conditions
- Frequently moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
- Occasionally moves objects weighing up to 15-30 pounds
- Occasionally move about the office / telework office
- Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions of the job in an office / telework environment Must be able to remain in a stationary position
