Senior Coating Advisor

Location: Pilar, Argentina
Department: Technical Services
Travel Requirement: Up to 80% (domestic and international)

Hempel is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Senior Coating Advisor to join our Technical Services team in Argentina. In this customer-facing role, you will provide expert support during coating projects to ensure specifications are met, application is executed correctly, and quality standards are upheld. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor for our customers and an essential technical resource for internal teams.

What you need to be successful in the role:

1. On-Site Project Execution & Technical Compliance

  • Oversee coating projects from start to finish, ensuring application follows Hempel specifications, technical standards, and industry best practices

  • Fulfill assigned projects in accordance with Work Orders and Hempel’s operating procedures

  • Monitor and document compliance with agreed painting specifications, including surface preparation and environmental conditions

  • Conduct coating condition surveys (onshore and offshore) as required

2. Customer Support & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers during project execution

  • Advise on the correct use of Hempel products and systems using up-to-date technical documentation (Product Data Sheets, application instructions, etc.)

  • Provide technical support pre- and post-sales, including on-site assistance, troubleshooting, and equipment/product recommendations

  • Deliver customer training on product features and application methods when required

  • Monitor and resolve recurring customer issues to ensure long-term satisfaction

3. Reporting, Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain timely and professional reporting (e.g., Progress Reports, paint inventory, equipment status) in alignment with Hempel SoPs

  • Communicate work progress and raise any deviations or non-conformities in writing, along with preventive or corrective action plans

  • Support claim-handling processes and contribute to resolution with technical input

  • Use Hempel’s digital tools and platforms efficiently for project tracking, documentation, and communication

4. Inventory, Equipment & Compliance

  • Monitor and report paint consumption and inventory status throughout the project

  • Ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of all technical service equipment

  • Follow Hempel’s Coating Advisor Safety Handbook and all site-specific HSE procedures

  • Use all required PPE and ensure it is in good working condition

  • Comply with corporate procedures for timesheets, expense reports, equipment tracking, and training

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applications must be submitted in English to be considered for this role

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Coating Advisor in a technical service role

  • FROSIO or NACE certification is mandatory

  • Strong knowledge of the paint and coatings industry

  • Proficient in English (spoken and written); Portuguese is a plus

  • Technologically proficient and comfortable using digital reporting tools

  • University degree in Chemistry or related field is a plus

  • Completion of required internal training as outlined in Hempel's Group Training Policy
