Job Summary:

People Inc. is looking for a QA Engineer 2 with JavaScript/TypeScriopt Frameworks to partner with the development teams responsible for the core web framework that powers the websites for one of the largest and fastest-growing online publishers. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge on how to develop automated functional tests for Web applications & Service layer. The ideal candidate is capable of critiquing functional requirements and design choices and their impact on how applications behave in the production environment to millions of users. She or he will be able to work with the QA managers in modifying STLC processes and maintain high quality work product while accelerating delivery. This role requires experience with testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and a deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript programming.

Roles & responsibilities

  • This position requires a highly competent, self-directed individual who can help shape processes and define testing standards.

  • We are looking for someone with experience in navigating variety of technical environments.

  • Conduct Manual & Automation testing and documentation for newly developed advertising products.

  • Design and implement regression testing processes and strategies for integration with existing systems and products.

  • Potential candidates should have extensive experience testing functionality, compatibility, integration of web applications.

  • Shape and define QA processes, standards, and best practices for the team.

  • Ability to draft end-to-end test plans, risk-based testing matrices, and to estimate test effort.

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automated test suites using JavaScript/TypeScript in Cypress or Playwright frameworks.

  • Create and execute UI tests and API/GraphQL tests, Node.js scripts, and custom automation libraries.

  • Perform hands-on testing of web applications (functionality, compatibility, integration) and headless browser workflows.

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), authoring or updating Jenkins files/Jenkins DSL as needed.

  • Collaborate closely with developers and DevOps to triage, document, and resolve defects; contribute clear, actionable bug reports.

  • Track test coverage, status, and results—generating reports and metrics for stakeholders.

  • Participate in daily Scrum ceremonies, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve QA tooling, methodologies, and test architectures.

  • Skilled at translating technical risks into business impact and driving consensus on release readiness.

  • Stay current with industry trends (test frameworks, cloud-native testing, containerization) and evangelize improvements.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or equivalent.

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in manual testing and automated tests using JavaScript/TypeScript with Cypress, Playwright, or other Node.js-based automation frameworks.

  • Proven ability to work independently to deliver high-quality test solutions, as well as to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Deep understanding of Web Technologies, browser developer tools (Chrome DevTools, Firebug), and REST/GraphQL APIs.

  • Expertise in integrating test suites into CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, etc.) and version control systems (Git/Bitbucket).

  • Strong scripting skills in Node.js for custom test harnesses and data-driven scenarios.

  • Familiarity with test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr) and defect-tracking systems.

  • Solid grasp of software configuration, release management, and database manipulation.

  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and awareness of cloud-native deployment patterns.

  • Working knowledge of AWS and/or GCP services is a significant plus.

  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills, with the ability to mentor peers and grow into a leadership role.

  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and adaptable to a fast-paced Agile environment.
