ICT Internship (Brasilia/DF) at International Organization for Migration

The internship will be for assisting in IT activities to ensure consistency and timelines of technical support provided to the duty station.
Under the direct supervision of the Information Technology Team Leader in Brasilia, and general supervision of the National Resource Management Officer (RMO) in the Brasilia office; and in close coordination with the Information Management Unit and ICT Focal Point at IOM Brazil headquarters. The internship will be based in Brasilia and is being offered for three months.
In particular she/he will assist with the operational activities of the Mission. Tasks will include:
Responsibilities
1. Assist in installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining systems, tools, and IT equipment (Computers, Smartphones, Satellite phones, Printers, Scanners, Monitors, Modems and Routers);
2. Monitor physical operation of the infrastructure (LAN equipment, wireless equipment, video conferencing equipment) and ISP Links to ensure its continued network services;
3. Providing first level support desk to desk for users with issues and remote support for users in other states;
4. Assist in orientation of users in the use of ICT systems and applications;
5. Assist in backup of data on drives and cloud applications;
6. Assist in keeping an updated inventory of software licenses and IT assets;
7. Give IT assist during IOM events, webinars, and meeting;
8. Support to other ICT activities;
9. Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience. However, the following competencies are required:
- A good command of MS Office applications and Windows operational systems;
- Knowledge in installing and configuring software and hardware;
- Knowledge in setup of computing equipment and access to LAN and Wireless LAN infrastructure;
- Creativity: takes an interest in new ideas and new ways of doing things; is not bound by current thinking or traditional approaches.
- Good organization skills; analytical and creative thinking.
- Proficiency in computer skills: Word, Excel and databases.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- For this position, fluency in Portuguese is required (oral and written).
- Working knowledge in Spanish and English is desirable.

- Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
- IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
