Job Summary: 

The Clinical Systems Analyst – RN is responsible for the design, build, implementation, and ongoing support of the electronic medical record (EMR) system and related applications. This role serves as a critical link between clinical practice and technology by leveraging professional RN knowledge to ensure that system design and workflows support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The Clinical Systems Analyst – RN will have clinical authority and provide clinical validation to ensure that patient safety, regulatory compliance, and nursing best practices are integrated into the systems. This position collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinical stakeholders, as well as with outside vendors, to integrate and maintain third-party applications that interface with the EMR. Responsibilities include building and configuring EMR functionality, troubleshooting, testing, training, and documentation, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with organizational objectives. This position plays a key role in advancing clinical systems to improve patient outcomes, enhance staff efficiency, and support the overall delivery of care.

Hours: 

  • FTE - 40 hours per week
  • Variable - Day Shift (7am - 4:30pm)

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Build, configure, test, and maintain components of the electronic medical record (EMR) system to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational stakeholders to gather requirements, translate workflows into system functionality, and implement solutions aligned with evidence-based best practices
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other interdisciplinary staff to evaluate requests, prioritize enhancements, and optimize EMR functionality
  • Collaborate with outside vendors to implement, integrate, and maintain third-party applications that interface with the EMR, ensuring interoperability and continuity of clinical workflows
  • Provide system support, including troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of issues, with appropriate escalation to technical resources as needed
  • Participate in testing and validation processes, including the development of test scripts, execution of integration testing, and support for end-user acceptance testing
  • Provide training, education, and ongoing support to clinical staff to promote system adoption, efficiency, and user satisfaction
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to workflows, system design, change control, and training resources
  • Monitor system performance, evaluate the impact of upgrades, and incorporate regulatory, compliance, and quality reporting requirements into the EMR
  • Contribute to project planning, timeline management, and progress reporting to ensure timely and successful implementation of initiatives
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and information technology teams, advocating for end-user needs and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • Support data capture, reporting, and analytics efforts to improve quality outcomes and meet external reporting requirements
  • Utilize nursing background and professional RN knowledge to ensure system design reflects safe, effective clinical workflows and support the needs of frontline staff
  • Apply professional nursing knowledge to evaluate, validate, and optimize EMR workflows, ensuring they align with evidence-based clinical practice standards, patient safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines
  • Provide clinical validation of system changes, identifying potential impacts to patient safety, quality of care, and compliance with nursing standards
  • Serve as project lead for complex EMR initiatives with significant clinical impact, coordinating resources, timelines, and deliverables across departments
  • Utilize nursing knowledge to drive clinical decision-making during project planning and implementation, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practice and patient safety standards
  • Use the organization's secure messaging platform in accordance with departmental protocols, including timely receipt and responses to communications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Medical terminology

  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality laws and patient rights
  • Effective English communication in verbal and written format

Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
  • Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) from an accredited school required
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Wisconsin required
  • Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Experience in clinical informatics or EMR system management preferred
  • Must possess a cell phone that interfaces with the organization’s secure messaging system
