Position Summary
Redwood’s Aspire platform is responsible for Alternative Credit Products which currently include Non-Qualified Mortgages (NQM) and Home Equity Investments (HEI). We are looking for a Vice President that has a broad range of experience within non-agency residential mortgages that can help with a variety of strategic initiatives as well as day-to-day trading and portfolio management responsibilities. The ideal candidate will embody someone who is highly motivated, willing to step in where help is needed, can manage multiple tasks and responsibilities, work in a high-pressure environment and help develop the younger team members.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Improve risk adjusted return models for relative value analyses and investment portfolio projections.
- Monitor market activity for residential mortgage loans and bonds.
- Monitor credit performance of sector as well as inventory to determine pricing and risk management strategy.
- Help optimize pipeline and investment portfolio hedging strategy.
- Help determine rate sheet pricing and bulk pool bidding strategy daily.
- Assist with day-to-day trading activities as needed.
- Develop fund models for SMAs and co-invest vehicles.
- Help oversee lock desk activities including rate sheet distribution, PPE interactions, pricing of credit exceptions.
- Monitor performance of pipeline and investment portfolio.
- Oversee improvement in pricing tools working closely with technology and other internal groups.
- Oversee development of reporting tools and processes to help build operational efficiency and improve risk management.
- Engage with relationship managers to improve penetration with sellers and adjust pricing strategy.
- Coordinate with internal groups to ensure accurate reporting for trading, business and capital planning.
- Complete ad hoc requests for strategic initiatives.
Required Experience & Education
- Required Bachelor’s.
- Preferred Master’s degree.
- 7+ years’ experience in trading or portfolio management with focus in residential non-agency loans.
- Experience working on a lock desk a plus.
- Proficiency with Bloomberg, Intex and CAS required.
- Very detail oriented with an ability to multi-task numerous different projects in a high-pressure environment.
- Advanced computer skills required, proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, SQL skills and programming in VBA and/or Python a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead a team and engage senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced trading environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated analytical ability.
- Self-managed, able to work well independently and within a small team.
- Team player.
A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $170,000-$194,000. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors.
