Position Summary
Under limited supervision, manage, oversee, and supervise the commercial operations of Grant’s wholesale power portfolio by making economical operational decisions about Grant PUD’s generation resources to meet load requirements, FERC licenses requirements, regulatory requirements, contractual requirements and asset preservation strategies.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide management and leadership direction to Commercial Operations staff.
- Supervise the day to day operational and technical support involved in the planning, forecasting, marketing and operation of Grant’s generation projects, including monitoring the recent operation of the projects to evaluate consistency with established operating plans, and for modification of near-term operating strategy as appropriate.
- Direct strategies for operation and marketing of the District's generation resources to meet the requirements of customer loads at the lowest possible cost and in compliance with environmental regulations
- Management of daily operational guidance and support of the real-time coordinated operations of generation projects, specifically, responsibility for overseeing the development of operational plans, generation outage coordination, and assuring seasonal and operating limits of generation projects are always current. Lead interface and facilitator in collaboration with Energy Supply Management, Power Production, Control Systems Engineering, Systems Operations, other Project Operators, Participants, the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) and other parties in generation operations.
- Ensure the development and maintenance of the System Operations procedures and training materials related to the operations of the generation projects by the System Operators are current.
Responsible for the administration and management of technical consultant contracts. - In this position, if needed to operate a GPUD vehicle for business purposes, please refer to the Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy, IS-TA-POL-001.

- Being viewed as a safety champion by stopping work if necessary, promoting safety activities (Continuous improvement team processes, Safety & Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) activities, etc.).
- Acknowledging compliant safety behaviors and good safety performance from members of your team(s).
Required Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, computer programming, business, accounting or similar field OR 2 years of additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Five (5) years’ of experience in operations and forecasting, and/or power management or marketing.
Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications):
- Experience as a people leader
- Experience in the science of hydrology
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of – concepts, principles, theories, and methods surrounding hydrological modeling; physics and mathematics; power generation, energy management systems; project management tools and techniques; technical competences with an attention toward detail; technical understanding of hydro operations and maintenance practices.
- Skill in – exercising good judgement and making well informed decisions under pressure; analytical analysis; oral and written communication; computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, basic databases; technical writing; river modeling.
