Job Summary:

The Therapy Quality and Compliance Specialist support the organization’s mission to provide safe, effective, and compliant therapy services by monitoring quality, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and promoting best practices across therapy programs. This role focuses on auditing clinical documentation, supporting quality assurance initiatives, training staff, and assisting with compliance efforts to maintain excellence in patient care and operational integrity.

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in healthcare quality assurance, compliance, or therapy services (rehab or long-term care setting preferred).
  • Knowledge of therapy documentation standards, billing compliance, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze clinical and operational data.
  • Effective communication and training skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct routine audits of therapy documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
  • Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support therapy leadership in implementing Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations for therapy services (CMS, HIPAA, state therapy boards, etc.).
  • Monitor changes in regulations and assist in updating policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Support preparation for external audits, surveys, and accreditation visits.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to therapy staff on documentation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training sessions on quality and compliance topics.
  • Serve as a resource to therapy staff regarding regulatory and policy questions.
  • Identify potential compliance risks and escalate concerns to leadership.
  • Support investigations of compliance issues and assist in corrective action planning.
  • Help maintain accurate compliance records, audit logs, and reports.
