TITLE: Research and Extension Compliance Associate
DEPARTMENT: Land Grant Program
REPORTS TO: Civil Rights Compliance Officer for USDA Programs
CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months

STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week
LOCATION: On-Site-Main Campus

JOB SUMMARY:
The Research and Extension Compliance Associate supports civil rights compliance efforts by conducting research, assisting with data collection and reporting, coordinating training and audit logistics, and supporting the office through documentation, outreach, and communication with stakeholders. This position works collaboratively with available units to ensure consistent necessary training support, and compliance alignment across the Land Grant Program and the College.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct preliminary research on applicable policies, laws, and regulations (e.g. Title VI, Title VII, ADA, Section 504, etc.), and best practices.
- Collect, organize, and manage compliance-related data using spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Maintain organized and confidential filing systems.
- Assist in the design and evaluation of surveys and assessment tools to support program audits and accessibility reviews.
- Maintain and update compliance-related content on the KSU webpage.
- Prepare draft reports, training materials, presentations.
- Track deadlines, deliverables, and documentation for reports, audits, and compliance activities.
- Assist in developing and distributing educational and informational materials for faculty, staff, program partners, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate logistics for audits, meetings, site visits, and training sessions.
- Track training participation and support faculty and staff in maintaining/updating training records.
- Assists with intake, tracking, and response of office inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentations in accordance with confidentiality and data protection standards.
- Collaborate with other units to align messaging, training materials, and compliance related communications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to conduct basic research and summarize findings clearly.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality and privacy standards.
- Familiarity with civil rights laws and related regulatory frameworks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with data systems and tools for tracking data accurately for reporting and audit readiness.
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with multiple teams.
- Proactive and self-motivated; able to take initiative and manage tasks without requiring hands-on direction.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
OTHER DUTIES:
- The position will conduct other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in public administration, legal studies, education, social sciences, or related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in civil rights compliance, data management, or research.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Land Grant Program setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily office setting work with a standard full-time weekday schedule. Occasional evenings or weekend work may be required.
- May require occasional in-state travel for compliance related trainings and audits
- Works in a professional environment with frequent interactions with faculty, staff, students, and leadership.
