The Assistant Manager, Clean Program ,supervises the daily field operations that keep Downtown Dallas clean, safe, and welcoming. This role manages Clean Team Leads and Crew Members, coordinates staffing and deployment, ensures equipment and fleet readiness, and enforces DDI service standards and policies. The Assistant Manager also supports training, safety, and reporting (Salesforce), and works closely with the Safety/Security and Homeless Outreach teams. Acting as the bridge between frontline teams and management, this position ensures consistent, high-quality service delivery across the district.



Essential Responsibilities


1. Supervision & Scheduling

  • Lead daily briefings/debriefings to communicate priorities.
  • Create and adjust weekly schedules to ensure 7-day AM/PM coverage; manage call-outs and backfills.
  • Publish Daily Operating Plans (DOPs) and power-wash schedules.
  • Monitor attendance, document notes in Paylocity (attendance, performance, conduct, uniforms), and approve timecards and PTO.
  • Oversee deployment of squads and zones to maximize visibility and efficiency.

 

2. Service Delivery & Field Operations

  • Ensure consistent delivery of core services: litter removal, graffiti abatement, pressure washing, illegal dumping response, and special projects.
  •  Work in the field to coach, inspect quality, and resolve productivity barriers.
  •  Adjust deployment daily based on district conditions.
  •  Coordinate equipment and staffing support for special events.


3. Fleet, Equipment & Supplies

  • Assist in managing the DDI fleet (trucks, sweepers, water truck, EV utility carts).
  • Ensure safe operation of equipment; provide ongoing training.
  • Track inventory and uniforms; submit timely supply orders.
  • Support Asset Panda asset tracking and oversee care of radios, devices, and PPE.

 

4. People Development, Training & Safety

  • Onboard and train new hires on equipment, standards, Salesforce logging, and safety protocols.
  • Coach Clean Team Leads for future supervisory roles; reinforce “The DDI Way.”
  • Apply progressive discipline fairly and consistently; partner with HR on performance and attendance matters.
  • Lead toolbox talks and promote a culture of field safety.

 

5. Reporting, Systems & Communication

  • Use Salesforce to log service activity, requests, and incidents; review dashboards for trends.
  •  Submit weekly operational summaries and monthly board reports with insights on hotspots.
  •  Track and escalate 311 requests as needed.
  •  Update Clean Team SOPs as processes evolve.
  •  Maintain professional communication with property managers, parks staff, and other stakeholders.

 

6. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Model professional, courteous, and solution-oriented interactions with the public and partners.
  • Ensure decisions align with DDI’s strategic goals and service standards.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency without reducing quality or safety.

 

7. Other

  • Perform frontline Clean Team tasks when needed.
  • Serve as acting manager or duty supervisor when assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


 





Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or supervisory training preferred.  
  • 2+ years supervising frontline teams in cleaning, maintenance, landscaping, hospitality, or related operations.  
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills; ability to manage a diverse workforce.  
  • Knowledge of cleaning operations, equipment, and OSHA-aligned safety practices.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Paylocity, and scheduling tools; familiarity with Asset Panda preferred.  
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.  
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR; ability to pass background and drug screening. 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Prolonged standing/walking outdoors in all weather conditions.  
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.  
  • Ability to operate pressure washers, blowers, sweepers, and related tools.  
  • Flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.  

Schedule & Coverage

  • Core schedule anchored around AM/PM shifts with flexibility for weather, events, and emergent issues.  
  • Rotating duty supervisor coverage as assigned.

  • Service Quality: completion rates and timeliness of daily tasks and requests.  
  • Coverage & Reliability: schedule adherence, overtime management, and effective backfills.  
  • Safety & Training: reduction of incidents; completion of training and toolbox talks.

  • Asset Stewardship: fleet uptime, preventative maintenance compliance, and accurate inventory.  
  • Reporting Discipline: timely, accurate weekly/monthly reports with actionable insights.
