 Position Summary
The Respiratory Accounts Business Development Specialist plays a critical role in driving business growth through account management, prospecting, and customer relationship development. This role combines sales execution with customer education – contributing to MERIT’s brand awareness in the market and establishing new respiratory relationships while nurturing and growing existing accounts. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who thrives on autonomy, can build trusted relationships, and is passionate about improving patient outcomes 


  

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivates and expands strategic relationships with pharma, biotech, and CROs in the respiratory space,      focusing on opportunities that best align with MERIT’s core capabilities
  • Develops and maintains a positive Company image and relations with integrity between the Company and key customers Identify, develop, and grow referral and client relationships within hospitals, physician clinics, research organizations, and service areas.
  • Conduct introductory calls, presentations, and educational sessions to showcase products, services, and research capabilities.
  • Generate leads, manage sales pipelines, and convert opportunities into long-term business.
  • Deliver responsive and attentive customer service to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless onboarding and account support.
  • Prepare and submit sales reports, maintain CRM data, and track market/territory trends.
  • Participate in promotional activities such as trade shows, conferences, seminars, and client events.
  • Practices and responds with commitment and sensitivity towards satisfying the needs of internal teams and external customers. Daily performance reflects dedication to quality and continuous advancement.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work assignments and tasks so they are completed on time Apply creative approaches and ideas to problem solving efforts, maximizing effective use of appropriate resources. 
  • Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting sales strategies as needed, responds positively and supports changes in procedures, processes, technology, responsibilities, and assignments to facilitate continued improvement. 
  • Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships and communications with all employees, participating and contributing effectively.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Healthcare, or related field preferred; Master’s degree a plus.
  • 1–2 years of relevant sales experience (B2B, healthcare, CRO, or respiratory/medical device sales) is required.
  • Knowledge of respiratory therapies, pharmaceutical, or clinical trial industries preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven ability to build relationships and drive results.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and organized with excellent time management.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales reporting.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to 5-6 conferences and events annually.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
