COST ENGINEER III – LAWA

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
KKCS is seeking a Cost Engineer III to join our team supporting Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) under the Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP). This individual will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting cost data for multi-billion-dollar capital improvement projects at LAX, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and effective communication with both technical and management-level stakeholders.
The role requires proven experience in cost engineering for large-scale, complex infrastructure projects, preferably within aviation. This is a full-time, onsite position based at LAX with standard hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. After-hours or weekend work may occasionally be required and is included in the salaried compensation
Key Job Duties
• Monitor project budgets for LAWA’s multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program.
• Review and analyze contractor and subcontractor invoices to ensure accurate expenditures against schedule of values.
• Prepare cost reports, charts, and reconciliations for management review.
• Perform cost-to-complete analyses considering staffing, commitments, expenditures, and change orders.
• Attend project meetings to present financial updates and trend logs.
• Develop creative reporting tools to communicate complex project sequencing and progress assessments.
• Review and track task orders, bid awards, change orders, and allowances against budgets and forecasts.
• Utilize cost reporting systems (e.g., Prolog, PMWeb) to manage commitments, expenditures, transfers, and trend monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with LAWA governance and reconciliation processes for budget changes.
• Support project closeout to ensure complete and accurate cost data.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of cost engineering experience directly related to construction projects.
• Required certification: CCE, CCP, or equivalent cost engineering certification.
• Experience managing cost reporting for large, complex programs.
• Familiarity with PMWeb and other project controls databases.
• Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam proficiency required.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze technical construction programs and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven track record of accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Aviation project experience.
• Proficiency with large-scale cost reporting systems (Prolog highly desirable).
