The Hollywood Reporter is seeking an innovative and experienced Director of Video and Social Creative and Production to play a key role in shaping the creative vision and execution of our video and social content strategy. As a leader in this role, you will combine your mastery of storytelling, creative direction, and production expertise with a deep understanding of social platforms and trends to drive impactful engagement in the entertainment industry. You will report to the VP, Video Production and Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creative Leadership: Develop and oversee the creative direction for social media content, ensuring alignment with the brand’s vision and goals while pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
- Content Strategy: Collaborate with VP of Video and leadership teams to create and implement a strategic social plan that drives engagement, growth, and brand loyalty within the entertainment industry.
- Video Production Management: Lead end-to-end video production efforts, including but not limited to shooting, editing, and post-production, ensuring high-quality output that resonates with target audiences.
- Social Media Creative: Conceptualize and produce dynamic, platform-specific content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and other relevant platforms to maximize reach and engagement.
- Trend Analysis: Stay ahead of emerging trends in video production, social media, and pop culture, leveraging insights to inspire new content formats that captivate audiences in the entertainment industry.
- Partnerships & Collaboration: Coordinate with external agencies, freelancers, and other creative partners when necessary to extend production capabilities and elevate content quality.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Regularly review performance metrics of video and social content to optimize strategies, improve engagement, and ensure ROI.
- Budget Management: Oversee the budget for video and social content production, making decisions that balance creativity and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in video production and social media creative, with proven success in delivering impactful projects within the entertainment industry.
- Creative Expertise: Exceptional ability to develop compelling visuals and storytelling, with a strong understanding of pacing, framing, and production techniques.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the entertainment industry, including pop culture trends, audience behaviors, and competitive landscapes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with video production equipment, editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro), and graphic design tools. Experience with motion graphics or animation software is a plus.
- Social Media Savvy: Strong understanding of social platforms, algorithms, and best practices, with expertise in tailoring content to different formats and audiences.
- Leadership: Proven experience in managing, inspiring, and growing creative teams and external freelancers to deliver world-class content.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, ensuring alignment across internal teams and external partners.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects and deadlines with creativity and poise.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in creating content for high-profile entertainment brands or platforms.
- Familiarity with live-streaming production or interactive video formats.
- Knowledge of analytics tools to measure content performance.
As THR values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Typical wage range: $115,000 - $125,000. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
