Job Purpose:
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our busy Prevention team. This role involves working as part of a dynamic team to support multiple community events, initiatives, and activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently, and will be proficient in using technology to assist in creating engaging marketing tools and materials. Permanent part time position. Not to exceed 900 hours per year. Schedule is approximately 15 to 20 hours per week.
Essential Job Functions:
Supports Prevention Coordinator in the administration and operation of events and activities led by the West Hartford Prevention Partnership (WHPP).
Responds to general inquiries regarding Prevention activities, schedules and assists in announcements to the public through social media or other channels.
Assists community members and students with program registration through email correspondence, over the phone, or in person.
Coordinates with administration and community stakeholders for planning and reserving spaces for events and activities.
Assists with the set-up, staffing and break-down of public awareness activities such as events, presentations, trainings, campaigns and other opportunities led by WHPP or partners.
Updates spreadsheets, flyers, and reports as needed.
Develops and disseminates promotional materials supporting programs using brochures, flyers, pamphlets, social media, etc.
Flexible schedule requiring some evenings and weekends.
Interest in working with students in marketing campaigns and leadership training and activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
]Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva or comparable design platforms.\
Ability to create content and post on social media such as Facebook and Instagram.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to work in a busy setting with interruptions.
Ability to work on projects independently and meet deadlines.
Experience working with middle and high school aged students.
Required Qualifications: High School graduate plus minimum of two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Pass a background check.
Method of Selection: Oral Board Examination
The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates invited to participate in any portion of the selection process. An individual appointed to the position must satisfactorily complete a six (6) month probationary period.
