JOB SUMMARY:
Performs tasks and duties associated with product manufacturing planning, including producing schedules, material lists and production plans. Performs work under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Develops, implements, and communicates build schedules and inventory plans to support current and future business conditions, while considering supply chain availability, forecast and actual demand.
- Calculates and communicates lead times and schedules with customer facing teams, utilizing capacity, efficiency, and historic production data.
- Recommends schedule changes resulting from material shortages, labor shortages or backlogs when necessary.
- Assists in cross-functional collaboration with marketing, sales, operations management, supply chain, etc. to meet company goals and objectives.
- Schedules and coordinates the efficient distribution of inventory to satisfy customer demand.
- Reviews and distributes production, work, and shipment schedules.
- Analyzes actual product demand, trends, and forecast, and adjusts production plans accordingly.
- Compiles reports on progress of work, inventory levels, and production problems and shares with operation supervisors and management.
- Schedules customer orders while balancing customer needs and operational capabilities.
- Works cross functionally with marketing, sales, logistics and customer experience to accommodate order changes and priority orders.
- Understands and communicates impact of build disruptions.
- Prepares work orders to ensure material availability.
- May provide coaching, mentoring, and training to new planners and/or support functions.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Researches and analyzes material transactions within ERP system to determine if action is needed.
- Engages with engineering and purchasing to facilitate protype, qualification, and change validation builds.
- Assists in backfilling multiple production areas.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 2-4 years of technical knowledge of supply chain, operational planning, demand planning, and manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPETENCY and/or SKILL:
- Proficient use of ERP system, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint. Familiar with Essbase and Tableau
- Knowledge of ISO and FDA standards as well as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Knowledge of production and inventory control processes, policies, and procedures
- Understanding of production floor and inventory control systems such as Lean Manufacturing principles, Kanban, Just In Time (JIT) and Advanced Supply Chain Planner (ASCP)
- Critical thinking: ability to analyze moderately complex situations and make comprehensive decisions based on the information available
- Problem-solving: ability to identify potential challenges and develop solutions to overcome them
- Organization: ability to keep track of multiple tasks and deadlines at once
- Communication: use of written and verbal communication skills to convey information to all areas of the organization
- Detail-oriented: Ability to ensure their plans are complete and accurate. This includes making sure they have all the necessary resources, personnel and information needed to complete the production plan
