As an Engineering Intern at our wood product manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for performing tasks that require the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes the standard design of engineering systems, project management, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other tasks as assigned. Specific assignments and project work will vary.
The rate of pay for this position is $20.00 per hour. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of engineering-related issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors and mill personnel to ensure project needs are met.
  • Assist in leading efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet company requirements.
  • Provide construction phase services and support for safety and environmental, estimating/pre-construction, field operations, quality, and project management.
  • Prepare scope of work and bid packages for necessary projects, analyze bids to award work.
  • Utilize multiple project execution approaches, including self-perform, multi-subcontractor, construction-only, and program management.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of two years of degree completed prior to the start of the internship.
  • Actively involved in campus, community, or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Research.
  • Responsible, dependable and safety conscious.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to be flexible and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Determined and trustworthy.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with an aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
  • Industrial environment subject to extreme heat of 105 degrees, and cold to 50 degrees seasonally.
  • Noisy, dusty, fast paced indoor/outdoor environment working around moving equipment.
  • The climbing of stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasionally lifting 20-30 pounds, making rounds on floor up to 4 miles by foot daily.
