OVE R VI E W
The Housekeeping Coordinator is a key hands-on member of the housekeeping team responsible for the overall Janitorial operations and Special event furniture operations at the Hobby Center for the performing arts. They work alongside the rest of the housekeeping team in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for all users and guests of the facility.
M A JO R FU N CT I ON S
- Oversee and inspect daily and nightly housekeeping operations.
- Coordinate and assign daily and nightly housekeeping cleaning schedules.
- Coordinate weekly housekeeping deep clean list for the three floors in the administration building, the main building backstage areas and front of house lobbies.
- Coordinate maintaining the cleanliness of Sarofim hall 2,650 seat theater and Zilkha hall 500 seat theater.
- Coordinate event workers, restroom cleaning, trash removal, recycling removal, lobby vacuuming, and theater cleanings before, during, and after performances.
- Coordinate furniture setups and breakdowns for special events.
- Knowledge and proficiency in safe use of housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, walk behind scrubbers, carpet extractor, and other equipment.
- Complete all assigned and required work and paperwork within each shift.
This position will require working 8-hour shifts from 9am-5:30pm or 5:30pm-2am, depending on organizational needs as events are scheduled. Some event days will require longer hours to complete assignments. Opportunities for overtime are available.
Responsibilities may be modified as needed to meet the organization’s goals.

Team members at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts must thrive on challenge and be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience in hospitality or guest services.
- The ability to take the initiative and lead others.
- The ability to multi-task, remain calm, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to pay attention to details.
- The ability to be on your feet and walk stairways for extensive time periods.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
- Be able to safely lift 30-60lb including tables, chairs, and trash.
COMPENSATION
The Hobby Center offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, basic life, short- and long-term disability, mobile phone stipend, paid parking, 403b savings plan with matching employer contributions, and paid time off. The anticipated hourly hiring range for this position is $17.00-$19.00.
