POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Children’s Treatment Centre (CTC) within a hospital, KidsInclusive is a separate vote program, unique within Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) in a few ways. These include separate funding and associated provincial sector involvement, unique culture and brand, and a separate client record. KidsInclusive is the Coordinating Agency for children and youth with special needs in two Service Delivery Areas: Frontenac Lennox and Addington, Hastings Prince Edward and Lanark Leeds Grenville. The Director of KidsInclusive is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of KidsInclusive, one of 21 CTCs in Ontario. The Director’s responsibilities include establishing the strategic direction of the centre in alignment with the strategic direction of KHSC; government and community relations; responding to and creating opportunities for purposeful growth; partnership development and contract management; financial management; ensuring legal and regulatory compliance; providing program and policy direction; and overseeing the operational management of multiple programs across two ministries.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE:
Strategic planning
Engages multiple stakeholders (staff, families, service partners) in mission-driven strategic planning. Ensures alignment with KHSC strategic plan, Ministry direction, and larger children’s services system. Develop and oversees alignment of annual Operating Plans with multi-year strategic plan. Fosters culture of innovation, learning, and data literacy.
Government and community relations
Liaises with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services regional and corporate offices as needed to support operations and new program development. Coordinates with KHSC Strategy and Communications to support advocacy efforts related to KidsInclusive. Demonstrates leadership at local, regional, and provincial levels.
Business functions including financial and contract management
Ensures that allocated resources are used as effectively and efficiently as possible while promoting quality family-centred care. Develops and oversees multiple service contracts. Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and contractual obligations. Works with KHSC Executive and the VP, Planning capital and redevelopment initiatives.
Partnership development for purposeful growth and coordination of care
Chair Special Needs Steering Committees in KFLA and Lanark Leeds Grenville. Engages multiple cross-sectoral service partners in service system design and improvements and coordination for children and youth with special needs. Works towards shared purpose and models transparency, engagement, and respect. Business case and proposal development aimed at expanding/growing KI.
Overseeing all operational aspects of KidsInclusive including policy, human resources, and contracted partnerships
Demonstrates emotionally intelligent leadership through behaviour and interaction with individuals and groups which includes positive role-modelling, mentoring, empowering, and encouragement to enable individuals and groups to attain their highest level of performance. Ensures appropriate systems, processes and supports are in place to promote operational excellence. Budget development, resource stewardship, accountability, and reporting. Develop and execute accountability agreements with contracted providers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in human services and/or professional designation in a Regulated Health Profession, MSW, MHA, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced training in executive leadership preferred
- 10 years in the field of children’s rehabilitation, plus community development and leadership expertise preferred
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with diverse groups of stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence individuals and teams within a large organization and in the context of major change, toward a vision while maintaining group cohesiveness, motivation, commitment and effectiveness
