What's so exciting about this role?

Hummgroup is on a journey to migrate to the cloud. Currently we have systems on-premises and systems in the cloud. The role of Site Reliability Engineer is key in taking us to the cloud and making our systems highly resilient. We are looking for a professional that is excited to roll up their sleeves, deliver infrastructure as code to support and migrate our existing on-premises server to AWS. We are also expanding our solutions that are hosted on AWS which involves taking ownership of identifying the best services to use and configuring and deploying them.

In addition, this role is embedded within the data team, and is responsible for the development, testing and production of automated infrastructure as code using Azure resources to support the data and analytics teams.

What Does An Average Day Look Like?

No day is average at humm but here’s an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:

• Collaborate with the architecture, development, test, security, and project team members to ensure the infrastructure to be deployed will be robust and meet the solution needs.
• Communicate your progress effectively and timely with stakeholders, including any potential scope creep or blockers to support a “no surprises” culture.
• Create, update, or deploy Infrastructure as Code to support the requirements of the solution developers are preparing and ensure it is consistent, aligned, supportable, and documented.
• Support, investigate, and assist in identifying root causes when resolving any incidents or outages in our systems.
• Improve our observability of our platform solutions and reporting of our key metrics to the senior management team.
• Improve our delivery CI/CD pipelines and process to improve our ability to deploy quickly with minimal, if any, disruption to our customers.
• Identify, suggest, and implement changes that will improve our business continuity readiness across our multiple geographic locations.
• Mentor other SRE members and squad team members to align to a common deployment practice, to improve skills and performance to achieve outcomes and grow our organisational capability.

We’re also looking for someone who brings:

• Proven 5+ years of experience as a SRE or DevOps Engineer.
• Proficiency in cloud-based platforms as a service specifically AWS. Knowledge of Azure would be advantageous, however, not essential.
• Understanding of AWS Well Architected Framework, PCI, PCI DSS, and Privacy compliance requirements.
• A proactive problem solver with good communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools e.g. CloudFormation, Terraform, or Terragrunt.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools e.g. Kubernetes and Docker
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A strong understanding of CI / CD and automated testing.
• A willingness to continuously grow and improve their technical and interpersonal skills.
