INTRODUCTION: This position reports to the Purchasing Manager. It is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties and has authority delegated commensurate with assigned responsibilities.    


LEAD MRO BUYER / STOCKROOM SPECIALIST: This role is responsible for the quoting, sourcing and procuring of all MRO materials, services and assisting with CAPEX project purchasing using a total cost of ownership approach and within budget. This role is also responsible for identification, recommending and onboarding of new suppliers, as well as maintaining and managing the existing suppliers within the MRO (NP) commodity group directly impacting the company’s needs for indirect materials and services. This role is also responsible for establishing processes and managing all aspects of stock room operations supporting the maintenance, repair and operational needs of the organization, while mitigating downtime with a plan to support 100% up-time for critical equipment and services. This role supports the Greeneville TN location with supplier and systems support as needed. The individual will also keep the stock room records up-to-date following proper processes and as directed. To be successful, this position requires a minimum of 2 years of indirect buying experience and 2 years in a stockroom role, or any combination of both, be proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis as an intermediate user of Excel, and have a general understanding of ERP and inventory management software packages. This role requires excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization and must be self-managing.    


SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: Includes, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for quoting and sourcing MRO goods and services, comparing against requirements and budget utilizing a total cost of ownership approach
  • Manages supplier relationships and recommends new vendors
  • Manages 3rd Party sourcing program (i.e. DSSI)
  • Assists in the identifying. quoting, sourcing and issuing of purchase orders for CAPEX projects working directly with the operations and engineering groups 
  • Issues purchase orders through SAP ensuring that JOST limits of authority have been obtained.
  • Ensures accuracy of purchase orders and assists accounting with invoice discrepancies
  • Responsible for all duties related to running an efficient and effective stock room in a safe, clean and secure manner.
  • Establishes re-order procedures and places order(s) ensuring appropriate stocking levels are maintained for all critical spare parts and MRO supplies. 
  • Communicate with all JOST departments in relation to MRO/stockroom needs and requirements for appropriate part levels, reporting on progress and proactive escalation of critical part shortages.
  • Daily check in w/stockroom clerk regarding storage of spare parts, components, and supplies.
  • Manages/Maintains Mpulse system for all spare parts
  • Establish and perform cycle counts and annual physical inventory. 
  • Performs root cause analysis for inventory errors and implementing corrective action to eliminate shortages and account for all return to stock items.
  • Suggest ideas for cost reduction and proper inventory levels. 
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  1. Minimum of two (2) years in an inventory management or stockroom capacity role.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of previous buying experience
  3. Associates degree in business or related field, preferred, or combination of education and experience.
  4. Must have prior ERP/MRP experience.
  5. Must have previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment.
  6. Must have good time management skills and the ability to quickly resolve problems.
  7. Highly dependable, motivated and self-driven with excellent attendance in prior work history.
  8. High degree of accuracy and high level of attention to detail is a must, as this role works in a real time manufacturing environment. 
  9. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of Mpulse or similar work order software program
  10. Capable of data entry for receiving, processing, and tracking inventory.  
  11. Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. This position requires frequent sitting, standing, kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting, walking and lifting. Will regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  2. Must be able to correctly operate equipment such as handheld scanners.
  3. Must be able to perform the basic processes of the job and follow all work instructions.
  4. Must be able to use proper handling techniques to prevent damage to parts and finished goods and in order to prevent injury. 
  5. Will need to grasp small parts with fingers and should exhibit good finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
