The access specialist will serve students with disabilities by determining appropriate academic accommodations and providing personalized support to enhance their academic success. This role involves supporting students in process of determining reasonable accommodations, referral to campus resources, empowering self-advocacy and helping them navigate academic environments. The access specialist will work as an essential member of Accessibility/ Disability Resources team at Inver Hills Community College and Dakota County Technical College. They will also work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to ensure students with disabilities receive the support needed to thrive in their academic pursuits.
Salary Range:
$23.98 - $34.69/Hour; $50,070 - $72,433 Annually
Minimum Qualifications
One full-time year (or equivalent) of professional experience supporting students with disabilities in either K-12 or higher education settings. A bachelor's degree may substitute for 1 year of professional experience, an associate's degree may substitute for 6 months of experience.
Experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities including, but not limited to, students with mental health, learning, attentional disabilities; students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, students with Physical Impairments, and students who identify as Neurodivergent (with or without formal diagnosis)
Proficiency with case management or learning platforms.
Preferred Qualification
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience in STEM-focused educational environments.
Experience with intake processes including reviewing (under the guidance of the Directors), medical, psychological, and other documentation for accommodations.
At least one year of experience supporting students with disabilities in a collegiate environment.
Working knowledge of laws pertaining to accessibility, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (revised); the Vocational Rehabilitation Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the Respond, Innovate, Succeed, and Empower Act.

Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm (Some flexibility/variability)
Some evenings/weekends possible.
