The Role: 

We are looking for a Payroll Administrative Clerk for a 12-month term to join our team of professionals in our Shoreland Transport office in Stellarton, NS. This position will require strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.  The primary duties of this role involve confidentially and ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees utilizing a trucking software system.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Auditing miles and inputting driver hours and other relevant data into the trucking software system. 
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. 
  • Answering driver questions related to payroll, deductions, and other compensation matters. 
  • Generating reports on driver earnings, expenses, and other payroll-related data, often using the system's reporting features. 
  • Ensuring accuracy of the data flow between the payroll module and other modules within the trucking software.
  • Utilizing the system's timecard tracking or timekeeping features to record driver hours, including overtime, breaks, and other compensable time. 
  • Incorporating driver mileage and freight data into the payroll calculation process.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in accounting or administration is an asset.
  • Experience in accounting and/or payroll (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
  • An energetic, self-starter who works well in a deadline driven environment.
