Actuarial Analyst Intern
Pekin Insurance is looking for a summer intern to join their Property and Casualty Actuarial department. This internship will allow the candidate to work within the Actuarial department to gain hands on, real world actuarial and business experience. The candidate will have opportunities to work with the pricing, reserving, and research and development (modeling) teams for both personal and commercial lines of business.
What You'll Do
- Assists with pricing, reserving, and modeling analysis for both personal and commercial lines
- Completes various reports to assist with general company reporting functions
- Uses various quantitative methods and analytical tools to analyze data and turn it into actionable information
- Performs data manipulation and analysis in Excel and SQL (R and Python if needed)
- Performs other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
Required
- Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Preferred or Specialized
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science
Certifications and Licenses
- Willingness to actively pursue actuarial exams
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic ability to:
- Work as a team member and follow directions
- Analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
- Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
- Work comfortably in a fast-paced work environment
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Basic skill in:
- Completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
Basic knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office software
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
Pay Range:
- $18 - $24/hour
- This range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position. Final compensation will depend on individual qualifications.
- This position is bonus eligible.
