- Your Success – work alongside passionate individuals who are committed to supporting your career ambitions, drive, and success.
- Your Impact – we want you to make a meaningful, lasting impact for you, for your colleagues, and for the business.
About the role.
In every role, McCainers are ambitious, curious, and interested in helping each other create good work experiences. We think about the customer and make doing business with McCain easy.
Be at the heart of McCain’s growth.
At McCain, we’re not just making food - we’re shaping the future of how it’s made, delivered, and enjoyed. Our Hull Cheese Appetiser Plant is no ordinary site. It’s fast-paced, innovation-driven, and central to delivering what our customers want, when they want it.
We’re looking for a Plant Manager who can lead with vision and inspire with action. Someone who thrives in a high-energy environment, can balance speed with discipline, and knows how to create a culture where people feel proud, empowered, and driven to do their best work.
This is your chance to build and lead a winning team, drive innovation at pace, and leave your mark on a site that’s key to McCain’s growth story.
What you’ll be doing.
- Setting direction and leading operational excellence – keeping the plant safe, efficient, and future-ready.
- Embedding a customer-first mindset, ensuring everything we do supports our foodservice, retail, and end consumers.
- Driving continuous improvement, reliability, and sustainability across operations.
- Leading and developing a high-performing plant leadership team that can run 24/7 with confidence.
- Building a Winning Culture – where people feel valued, success is celebrated, and collaboration drives performance.
- Ensuring safety, quality, and compliance are never compromised.
- Delivering strong financial stewardship while balancing short-term targets with long-term growth.
Accountabilities.
- Ideally a degree in Engineering, Science, Business or similar (advanced qualifications are a bonus) – but if you bring extensive hands-on experience in food manufacturing leadership, we’d value that just as highly.
- 8+ years of progressive leadership in food manufacturing, ideally in cheese/dairy or complex appetiser categories.
- A proven track record of leading in fast-moving, customer-focused environments.
- Expertise in financial management, food safety, and complex multi-ingredient production.
- A people-first leader who balances drive for results with empathy, understanding, and inclusivity.
- Someone who can inspire trust, listen actively, and create a culture where individuals feel safe to contribute, grow, and challenge the status quo.
- A confident communicator who can influence and connect at every level - from the plant floor to the boardroom.
- Resilient and adaptable, able to lead teams through change while keeping energy, morale, and focus high.
- A natural collaborator who builds strong partnerships with colleagues, customers, and the wider community.
Location.
Our Hull plant is where we make all our cheesy appetites, and even if you think you haven’t tasted our products before, because of our large portfolio of foodservice establishments, it’s likely you probably have! Our small, but perfectly formed team of around 130 make everything from halloumi fries to chilli cheese nuggets.
The benefits of working for McCain.
Although we do encourage you to taste the goods you’ll be pleased to know we don’t pay you in ‘chips’. For working hard, you’ll also get a great salary and some pretty good benefits including:
- A generous car allowance
- An excellent pension where we will pay double what you do, up to a maximum of 12% of your pay
- Flexible holidays – where you can buy & sell up to 5 days holiday per year
- Optional health cash plan
- Cycle to work scheme
- ‘Chips In’ Volunteering Day Off - to make a positive impact to the competitiveness, resilience, and long-term development of McCain communities across the globe
And of course, being part of a Global business there are great opportunities to shine/thrive should you wish to relocate in the future. We have an ambitious 5-year growth plan that presents development & progression opportunities for those who seek it out.
