Davies North America (NA) is looking for an experienced Power BI Report Writer.  Reporting to the PGCS, we provide Third Party Claims Administration for Workers’ Compensation and Liability claims on behalf of our customers.  We pride ourselves on our friendly, team-orientated work environment. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Power BI Development Lead to spearhead our Business Intelligence initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a team of 5+ BI professionals, driving large-scale data projects, and delivering high-impact dashboards and insights using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in delivering enterprise-grade BI solutions. This role requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality report delivery across both project-based and ad-hoc requests. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Power BI developers with diverse experience levels, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the Analytics Centre of Excellence.
  • Architect and develop scalable dashboards using Power BI Desktop and Service, aligned with business strategies and designed to drive revenue-generating insights.
  • Connect, import, and transform large datasets from various sources, ensuring high data integrity and readiness for advanced analytics.
  • Optimize data models and DAX queries for performance, scalability, and usability across enterprise reporting environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver tailored BI solutions that measure and maximize business value.
  • Drive adoption of Microsoft Fabric components, including Data Factory, Lakehouse, and Real-Time Analytics, to build a robust reporting engine.
  • Ensure data governance and privacy compliance, implementing row-level security (RLS) and aligning with regulatory standards.
  • Produce intuitive KPIs and visualizations, translating complex data into actionable intelligence for strategic decision-making.
  • Provide internal training and upskilling, enabling team members to leverage AI in analytics, including Generative AI tools and NLP automation.
  • Handle ad-hoc reporting and data extraction, supporting research initiatives and custom analytics requests from stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update client metadata, including location data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across reporting systems.
  • Manage multiple reporting requests and deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational skills and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with the IS team to ensure proper data availability and system readiness for accurate report development.
  • Participate in a community of practice, sharing insights and innovations with other report writers, developers, and analysts.
  • Support hybrid SDLC and Agile methodologies, ensuring timely delivery of BI projects with flexibility and iterative improvements.
  • Stay current with BI trends, exploring various models and emerging technologies to enhance analytics capabilities.
  • Conduct research for analytics innovation, identifying opportunities to integrate AI, automation, and predictive modelling into BI workflows.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8 to 10 years working with report writing PowerBI, MS-SQL, DAX, Azure, CI-CD, SSRS Reporting, ETL, Power Automate
  • 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience with relational databases, data modelling, and ETL processes, including developing and maintaining SSRS reports for enterprise-level reporting.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience designing scalable Power BI dashboards, optimizing DAX queries, and managing Power BI workspaces using Power Automate.
  • Experience delivering AI-driven analytics solutions, leveraging Generative AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, with hands-on experience using Jira and Confluence for sprint planning, backlog management, and collaboration.
  • High attention to detail with a proven ability to identify, isolate, and resolve data and reporting defects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate across business units to drive data strategy and execution.
  • Quick learner with a growth mindset, adaptable to evolving technologies and tools.
  • PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification is preferred.
  • Additional relevant certifications such as Microsoft DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer) are a strong plus.
  • Domain knowledge in insurance analytics, including familiarity with NCCI (National Council on Compensation Insurance) data standards and reporting requirements.
  • Must speak English
  • At least 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience PowerBI, DAX, SQL, Power Query, Extensive Power BI knowledge (including Power Query, DAX and ML); or comparable experience in Tableau or PySpark
  • SQL experience is strongly preferred; Python expertise would also be helpful.
  • Good leader who can manage teams and work well in Agile projects
