Position Summary:
The Director of Market Strategy is responsible for identifying new market opportunities and executing strategic market expansion initiatives. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to shape go-to-market strategies and cultivate strategic partnerships that drive growth in energy efficiency, electrification, and clean-energy program implementation. This leader leverages market intelligence, relationship development, and strategic planning to expand Walker-Miller's presence across utilities, municipalities, and commercial clients nationwide.

- Lead comprehensive market strategy development by identifying and evaluating new markets, emerging trends, and policy drivers to guide expansion and revenue growth. Create and execute market entry strategies, including competitive positioning and strategic resource planning. - Build and manage high-value relationships with utilities, municipalities, strategic partners, technology providers, and key stakeholders to drive joint opportunities and collaborative growth initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing winning proposals for large-scale utility RFPs, government contracts, and commercial opportunities. Create compelling business cases, financial models, and value propositions that demonstrate Walker-Miller's capacity to deliver measurable energy savings and community impact.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop long-term business strategy and growth plans. Translate market insights into actionable strategic initiatives that expand Walker-Miller's geographic footprint and service capabilities while maintaining mission alignment with community empowerment.
- Lead and coordinate cross-departmental teams to ensure successful execution of market expansion initiatives. Work closely with operations, program management, finance, and marketing teams to develop integrated approaches that support business development objectives and maintain operational excellence.
- Monitor partnership outcomes and market expansion KPIs, providing regular strategic updates and performance analysis to executive leadership to inform decision-making and strategic course corrections.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in energy industry business development, strategy, or consulting, including 3+ years in leadership or strategic market development roles
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in partnership development and management within regulated utility markets
- Strong understanding of utility programs in energy efficiency, demand response, electrification, and clean energy market trends
- Proven track record of successfully entering new markets and leading proposal development or RFP pursuits to scale business operations
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, policy drivers, and market dynamics affecting energy efficiency and clean energy sectors
- Exceptional relationship-building capabilities with executive presence and ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Outstanding presentation and communication skills with experience engaging C-suite executives, utility leaders, and regulatory officials
- Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments while maintaining strategic focus
Desired Qualifications:
- MBA
- Experience leading market expansion across multiple states or utility territories
- Established network of contacts within utilities, government, municipalities, and other clean-energy stakeholders
- Familiarity with utility regulatory and policy processes on Energy Efficiency and Electrification
- Strong financial modeling skills to assess market opportunities and partnership ROI
