Electrical Engineer Intern - Product Line Engineering (summer 2026) at Bastian Solutions

The Electrical Engineer Intern in Product Line Engineering will gain hands-on experience supporting the development, maintenance, and improvement of existing products across the company’s vehicle and automation product lines. This internship provides exposure to embedded circuit design, electrical schematics, cable harnesses, and product validation processes. The intern will work under guidance from experienced engineers, assisting with engineering changes, defect resolution, and product variant support while learning industry best practices.

Job Functions:

• Assist engineers with embedded electronic circuit and system-level electrical designs for product variants.
• Support the implementation of engineering changes (ECOs) for existing products, including minor design updates and defect fixes.
• Help create and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable harness documentation.
• Participate in validation and functional testing using lab instruments and data acquisition equipment.
• Document design updates, test results, and observations in the company’s PLM or document control system.
• Gain exposure to Allen Bradley PLC product control and other embedded system tools.
• Learn and apply company standards, quality processes, and regulatory requirements in all documentation and design tasks.

Travel Requirements:

• 5% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications :

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with schematic capture or PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics) is a plus.
• Exposure to cable harness design, wiring diagrams, or embedded systems is helpful.
• Experience or coursework using lab instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced engineering setting.
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Exposure to AutoCAD Electrical, Solidworks Electrical, Altium Designer, Studio 5000, or other eCAD & PLC software is a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
