SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the fabrication and development of mechanical engineering designs, testing and modifications of assemblies and composites related hardware. With some supervision, the individual interprets detailed drawings for fabrication and must demonstrate good knowledge of composites processes including the use of autoclave/oven systems, hand tools, lay-up and bagging of parts to a variety of molds, honeycomb core panel fabrication and assembly, and bonding using assembly fixtures. Experience with trimming, drilling, and insert and bushing installation in composites hardware is a plus. Individuals will interface with Manufacturing and Design engineering as well as Materials and Processes personnel. Individuals must be able to demonstrate to Quality Assurance that work performed meets engineering drawing requirements. Works with chemicals. This position may be required to perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work any shift.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
Three years experience in the use of prepreg, bagging, autoclaves, ovens and release materials.
Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments.
Experience in handling chemicals such as Isopropyl Alcohol and Acetone
Adept at reading drawings, process specification, and work order instructions.
Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance or SCI Access.
Willing to work any shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
AA degree or other two-year technical degree
Familiar with Northrop Grumman Corporation processes.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office to supplement work order and other data requirements
Able to perform work daily in an approved clean room environment, to include wearing clean room garments.
Primary Level Salary Range: $54,400.00 - $90,600.00
