BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The position is responsible for supervision, resource allocation, cost-benefit justification, and high-level project management supporting medium to large projects. The Manager of Clinical Learning and Informatics is expected to be the Subject Matter Expert for the delivery of adult learning content for clinical applications. This position will also be the Subject Matter Expert for the delivery of a clinical informatics support model that includes advanced at-the-elbow support for clinical end users to ensure patient care related workflows are effectively maintained for both clinical and indirect support departments.  This position directs high-level needs assessment, systems definition, preliminary analysis and design.  Accountable for generating and maintaining standards of professional practice and information services support as defined by a variety of regulatory and advisory resources including The Joint Commission, HIPAA, ITIL, and other standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: YES

Number of Direct Reports: Eleven

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to healthcare management, clinical informatics, information systems or adult education.

Degree: Yes

License/Certification Required: EHR Certifications preferred  

Minimum Work Experience: Three years of clinical practice experience in healthcare, with one-year managerial experience. Years of experience may be used to support minimum education requirement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for human resource management to achieve successful operations and positive employee relations.  Responsible for consistent, value-added, and timely information sharing or dialog about initiatives and department or section-based work efforts to ensure effective operations, effective working relationships, and informed and engaged employees.
  • Responsible for effective fiscal management to ensure proper utilization of financial resources in accordance with the organization’s strategic plan, mission, goals and values.
  • Serves as a leader and role model in support of continuous quality improvement efforts to achieve high quality and ongoing improvement in all areas of care and service.
  • Responsible for personal and professional development which will ensure current knowledge in health care management and relevant areas of specialty to achieve organizational effectiveness.
  • Participates in overall organizational strategic planning for information services.
  • Directs the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of change and transition facilitation programs designed to optimize provider and staff acceptance of information systems and associated process changes, in concert with operations leadership. 
  • Performs a variety of broader responsibilities to ensure that information systems and technologies result in optimum organizational performance.
  • Meets response time targets and engages other team members when necessary to solve after-hours issues.
  • Supervisory responsibility for team development in mentoring and performance improvement.
  • Provides expeditious resolution to system & service failures, errors or other problems.

  • Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs. occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs. is required.
