POSITION: Faculty, DNAP Program (PT)
Requirements: A Doctorate degree in nursing or related field required. A current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) is required. An active and unencumbered RN/APRN license, with eligibility for licensure as a CRNA in Delaware (multistate RN license applies for RN) is required. Familiarity with Wilmington University’s database management systems (such as Canvas LMS, Banner, BDM, Recruit, or other Microsoft-based Student Information Systems) is required. Detail-oriented and capable of working with diverse populations. Experienced with Zoom and Teams video conferencing platforms. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a service-oriented environment with competing demands. A self-directed, independent worker with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities. Must demonstrate respect for diversity and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees. Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all situations and contributes positively as a team member and team builder. Demonstrate systems thinking among college and university colleagues.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Deliver didactic instruction in core nurse anesthesia courses and simulation
Assist in the development and updating of course materials to reflect current best practices in nurse anesthesiology
Utilize various instructional methods, including simulation-based learning, lectures, and case studies, to engage students and foster learning
Participate in student assessment, including exams, practical evaluations, and clinical performance reviews, providing timely feedback
Develop, coordinate, and facilitate simulation scenarios that mirror real-world anesthesia cases, promoting critical thinking and hands-on skills
Teach 5 courses in the classroom and online as assigned by the DNAP Director each academic year.

Provide clinical advising and mentorship to students in anesthesia practice, ensuring the development of clinical competencies.
Collaborate with clinical preceptors to assess student progress and ensure alignment with program standards and goals.
Participate in clinical site visits as necessary, ensuring that educational experiences are diverse and meet accreditation requirements.
Mentor and oversee students in the development, execution, and presentation of their scholarly projects, ensuring these projects align with program goals and contribute to the advancement of nurse anesthesia practice.
Guide students in the scholarly project process, supporting critical thinking and evidence-based practice.
Engage in ongoing annual professional development activities, including formal instruction in areas related to academia, including online learning, curriculum design, assessment strategies, and advancements in educational technology.
Stay current with developments in nurse anesthesia by participating in relevant clinical practice, conferences, and continuing education activities.
Maintain an active role in clinical practice to ensure continued competence and relevance in anesthesia care.
Serve as a resource and advisor to students, addressing academic concerns and offering guidance on their professional development.
Participate in program initiatives such as student recruitment, open houses, and other educational events to support program visibility and success.
Review program applicants and conduct candidate interviews based on program requirements.
Participate in program advisory, faculty, and admissions committees. Participate in the governance of nursing program curricula (e.g., program and College curriculum committees).
Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives of the Academic College.
Mentor new faculty and ensure support of the University's mission, the Academic College philosophy, priorities, and procedures.
Support the program in maintaining accreditation standards by ensuring accurate documentation of student performance and participation in program evaluations
Support the Academic College in implementing activities to ensure strong academic programs that maintain compliance with internal requirements such as program review and outcomes assessment as well as external requirements for approval, accreditation, and licensure.
Familiarity with COA accreditation processes and standards
Ensure all clinical and didactic instruction meets the standards set by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).
Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday-Friday, varying between 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. depending on the needs of the department(s) and/or the University. The incumbent must maintain a flexible work schedule to occasionally work some early evening hours. Hours may be adjusted for the first week of a block/semester and special events. Travel to other Wilmington University sites is required.
