Overview:

The Admission Operations Student Employee provides administrative support to Enrollment Services, specifically within Admission Operations. Responsibilities include scanning and filing enrollment-related documents, monitoring departmental mail and email, and shredding sensitive materials. The student employee may also assist with system testing for Admission Operations, review enrollment-related forms for completeness, and enter data into spreadsheets. They will be expected to track their work using metrics and may be assigned special projects as needed. General training will be provided to ensure the student is prepared to carry out all core administrative tasks. Work will contain special projects as assigned.

 

Campus Location: Des Plaines

Length of Employment: Fall 2025, with opportunity to renew.

Hours Available: 10-15 hrs/week

Schedule flexibility: Schedule will be set weekly.

 

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities (TDRs) and Learning Outcomes

  • Review sensitive documents for completion

CM/CT

  • Record keeping via spreadsheets and metrics reporting (work completed)

TC/PF

  • Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of paperwork containing personal or academic information.

PF/TC/CT

  • Participate in testing of new software and/or forms.

TC/CT/CM

  • Communicate with staff and supervisor regarding any challenges or issues that arise during each assignment and collaborate with staff in finding resolutions.

CM/PF/TW

  • Complete other projects as assigned

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities or KSOAs)

Qualified candidates will have the following competencies and skills:

  • Must be currently enrolled at Oakton College in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. Employment over the summer is allowed for students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer, or students continuing registration into the following Fall semester.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.
  • Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrated reliability and responsibility.
  • Ability to mentally attend and visually concentrate on a significant amount of detailed work.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong detail orientation preferred.
  • Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
