Salary Range: $20-$25/hour depending on qualifications
The Council on Aging seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented part-time Newsletter Editor to support the daily operations of the COA and produce the monthly senior center newsletter in Canva. This position plays a vital role in keeping older adults informed, engaged, and connected to services, programs, and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, write, and edit content for the monthly COA newsletter.
- Collaborate with COA staff and community partners to gather program information, articles, and updates.
- Use desktop publishing software Canva to design the layout.
- Ensure timely proofreading, printing, and distribution (both print and digital versions).
- Maintain an archive of past newsletters and track distribution metrics.
- Provide general administrative support to COA staff and programs.
- Answer phones, greet visitors, and respond to inquiries with professionalism and warmth.
- Enter data, update databases, and support reporting needs.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in office administration, communications, or related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Canva; experience with publishing or layout software strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working with older adults and a commitment to supporting their needs.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a municipal, nonprofit, or senior services environment.
- Familiarity with ADA-accessible communication standards and age-friendly language.
- Basic graphic design or marketing experience is a plus.
