POSITION SUMMARY
The Inventory Accounting Analyst role is responsible for analyzing and reviewing manufacturing transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance within the medical device sector. The analyst will work closely with operations, finance, and compliance teams to assess the accounting impact of production activities and support strategic decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Review and validate manufacturing transactions including inventory movements, work orders, and cost allocations.Analyze variances between standard and actual costs; investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to ensure accurate bill of materials (BOMs) and routing data.Monitor transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Evaluate the financial impact of changes in manufacturing processes, product design, and material usage.Prepare monthly reports on cost of goods sold (COGS), gross margins, and production efficiency.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to manufacturing and inventory accounting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 -5 years of relevant experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or supply chain finance
- Strong understanding of inventory flows, ERP transactions, and reconciliation processes
- Solid knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to inventory and COGS
- Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly Supply Chain and Operations, to resolve discrepancies and improve process accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skill
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in the medical device, biotech, or manufacturing industries
- Exposure to Workday Financials, NetSuite, or Oracle Cloud
- Familiarity with standard costing and cost roll-up processes
- Continuous improvement or system implementation experience
