PRIMARY PURPOSE: Advance decision-making quality across the business organization in partnership with dedicated cross-functional departments via strategic analysis. Execute and improve critical analytics functions that drive our organization forward. Execute and improve business intelligence capabilities utilizing a variety of tools and analysis methods translating data into actionable insights for our teams. Partner with relevant departments to develop and implement descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analyses that support the Guardians’ Strategic Priorities. Our Business Intelligence Team is currently seeking two new teammates to join in two key focus areas: Food & Beverage and Corporate Partnerships & Premium Hospitality. The selected candidates will be placed in one of these areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

General Business Intelligence

  • Translate data into digestible and informative business intelligence dashboards in Tableau or PowerBI, aligning dashboard design with organizational standards for cross-product consistency.
  • Approach business challenges and questions from a quantitative and analytical perspective, using data to improve processes and develop clear recommendations.
  • Synthesize and communicate actionable insights through written, visual, and interactive mediums.
  • Partner with Information Systems to identify opportunities to enrich and/or grow our customer database, drive data classification, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Identify, organize, analyze, and present data from sources including ticket sales, food and beverage sales, social media interaction, survey responses, performance media, email interaction, and additional sources for marketing applications.

Our Business Intelligence Team is currently seeking two new teammates to join in two key focus areas: Food & Beverage or Corporate Partnerships & Premium Hospitality. The selected candidates will be placed in one of these areas, with role-specific responsibilities outlined below.

Food & Beverage

  • Improve and maintain critical business functions including, but not limited to, pricing of all products, sales- and transaction-level forecasting, business reporting (i.e., Tableau or PowerBI), fraud alert/monitoring, and customer behavior modelling.
  • Enhance back-end commissary operational efficiencies by leveraging location-level transaction and inventory data.
  • Maintain excellent documentation and communication both within the Guardians and in partnership with the Concessionaire to generate buy-in and long-term stability of core processes.
  • Coordinate with Guardians and Concessionaire market research functions to develop ongoing research initiatives that inform strategic decisions, including price sensitivity surveying.
  • Analyze and present data from sources including ticket sales, food and beverage sales, survey responses, and labor information for applications such as ticket offerings, budget planning, and game day operations for both the Club and Concessionaire.
  • Translate data into digestible and informative business intelligence dashboards, aligning dashboard design with organizational standards for cross-product consistency.
  • Approach business challenges and questions from a quantitative and analytical perspective, using data to identify process improvements and develop clear recommendations.
  • Synthesize and communicate actionable insights through written, visual, and interactive mediums.
  • Drive data classification, accuracy, and accessibility to enable greater analytics efficiency.
  • Maintain a cadence of reporting between the Concessionaire and Club to ensure performance of food and beverage is being communicated often and transparently.
  • Track new concepts, menu items and initiatives to judge impact and recommend insight-based continuation/cessation.
  • Answer all ad-hoc Club queries related to food and beverage in a timely manner.
  • Work across departments on promotions and sponsorships, providing information to assess impact across our fans, operator and financials.
  • Gather and disseminate best practices from Concessionaire and MLB.

Corporate Partnerships & Premium Hospitality (CPPH)

  • Work with CPPH leaders to develop annual business plans and the measurement strategy behind these plans.
  • Analyze and advise on renewal and new sales plans that increase revenue and profitability while building foundation for including evaluating sales/service cycle timelines to seek out potential improvements.
  • Lead collaborative processes that help our team manage our pricing, inventory, sales pipelines, and overall health of the business. Participate as a member and resource of the Sales Leadership Team meetings.
  • Actively review trend analysis in ticket sales to identify opportunities to improve revenue growth or other key business attributes.
  • Act as a resource to gather feedback from sales and service staff as well as assist the Brand and Strategy teams in analyzing market research results to assess new revenue-generating product offerings.
  • Partner with sales leaders and finance to identify new and profitable opportunities for our team.
  • Support organizational initiatives by assisting Account Executives and Service teammates with day-to-day use of business intelligence software (i.e., Tableau or PowerBI) and CRM to continue to drive usage to translate into actionable business insights across Premium Hospitality and Corporate Partnership verticals.

Training & Development

  • Assist in the growth of adoption and learning across tools and technologies within dedicated department.
  • Provide thought leadership on building best-in-class, revenue-driving initiatives, collaborating with assigned team to execute.
  • Oversee the test and learn process for executing targeted efforts synthesizing results for key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain key KPIs to quantify the value of results.
  • Collect and compile disparate datasets from across our data assets to develop a holistic understanding of our data, partnering with IS team to operationalize these data feeds & pipelines.
  • Assist in annual strategic planning, identifying strategic focus areas.
  • Support external collaboration with MLB and relevant third parties to learn best practices, new capabilities, and troubleshooting techniques.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3 years of relevant work or internship experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Marketing or other relevant field (mathematics, operations research, information science, etc.) is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SQL, and R//Python or equivalent. Business lntelligence presentation software (Tableau, PowerBI etc.), CRM, and Customer Data Platforms are a plus.
  • Experience with cloud-based providers (i.e., AWS, BigQuery, Azure) as well as data intelligence platforms (i.e., Databricks, Snowflake) are also a plus.
  • Experience using quantitative tools and analytic methods in a professional setting for functions such as financial modelling, survey data analysis, product design, pricing, impact forecasting or organizational decision making preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects and deliver superior results.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to be self-driven and seek out where improvements are needed in the Sales, Marketing, and Communications Department.
  • Ability to identify and communicate priorities, work cross-departmentally on projects, develop interpersonal relationships, and produce positive results.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills experience applied to problems and solutions in an effective manner.
  • Demonstrated experience with reasoning, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and communication skills at tactical and strategic levels.
  • Passion for learning new skills and concepts.

  • Reads, speaks, comprehends, and communicates English effectively in all communications.

  • Ability to move throughout all areas and levels of the Ballpark.

  • Occasional physical activity such as lifting and carrying boxes up to 25 lbs.
