Job Summary:


The Tax Intern position offers exposure to tax compliance, accounting, and administrative functions within a professional services environment. Interns will assist with tax returns, financial statements, and client documentation while developing skills in tax research, software tools, and industry procedures.


Duties/Responsibilities:


Tax Preparation & Support

• Assist in preparing individual and business tax returns under supervision.

• Organize and review financial documents for accuracy and completeness.

• Conduct basic tax research on federal, state, and local regulations.


Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Support the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.

• Enter and reconcile transactions in accounting software.


Client File Management

• Maintain and update client records in both digital and physical formats.

• Ensure confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information.

• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for client files.


Administrative & Team Support

• Provide clerical support such as scanning, filing, and data entry.

• Assist accountants and tax preparers with daily tasks and projects.

• Attend staff meetings and contribute to workflow improvements.


Professional Development

• Shadow experienced tax preparers and accountants to learn best practices.

• Gain exposure to IRS regulations, GAAP, and firm-specific procedures.

• Participate in training sessions on tax software and accounting tools.


Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn/utilize several industry specific software required to perform job responsibilities.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.


Education and Experience:

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Junior (rising senior) or Senior year student with a strong academic standing.

• 0-2 years of experience in tax administration work or equivalent preferred.


Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• This position is onsite.
