Position: Early Childhood Community Liaison
Location: Capital School District Itinerant Locations
Terms of Employment: Full time, 12 Month Position
Reports to: Director/Supervisor of Special Services
Salary: Current teacher salary schedule
Position Overview:
The Early Chgildhood Community Liaison serves as a bridge among families, the school district, and community resources to ensure that children in early childhood programs have the support they need to succeed. This position promotes family engagement, assists families in accessing educational and social services, and strengthens partnerships between home, school, and community agencies. The Family Liaison plays a key role in fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment that supports children’s learning and development from birth to age five.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families in the early childhood program regarding resources, supports, and community connections.
- Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with families to encourage open communication and active involvement in their child’s education.
- Assist families in identifying and accessing resources such as healthcare, housing assistance, food programs, childcare, and mental health services.
- Collaborate with school staff, social workers, and community partners to coordinate supports for children and families.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, informational sessions, and family engagement activities to build parenting skills and promote school readiness.
- Support the enrollment, orientation, and transition processes for new families entering the early childhood program.
- Maintain up-to-date records of family contacts, referrals, and services provided in compliance with district policies and confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and community outreach events.
- Advocate for the needs of children and families within the school and community.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education & Certification
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and another language strongly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of early childhood development, family engagement strategies, and community resource systems.
- Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Skilled in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and advocacy for families.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, community organizations, and service agencies.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and data entry systems.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics.
